Location Description The project involves two locations: the dance studio where the <br />choreography will be taught and the site of the community performance. <br />Studio space is necessary for this project, as we will require 2 sequential <br />days for the guest choreographer to teach the piece to the Footnotes <br />dancers. This exceeds our standard studio usage agreement with the Ballet <br />School of Chapel Hill (our home studio) and, therefore, requires a separate <br />studio reservation. W e have received approval from the co-owners of <br />Davis Dance Company to secure studio space at their facility in Durham, <br />NC (please see the letter of support provided as part of this application). <br />Davis Dance Company is a newly opened, women-owned business that <br />focuses on developing and training young dancers. Davis Dance Company <br />also offers classes tailored to individuals with developmental disabilities <br />(Limelight classes) and, as such, the studio has accessibility <br />accommodations. <br />W e propose holding the community performance at The ArtsCenter in <br />Carrboro, NC. This location was selected because we have a previous <br />relationship with the venue and held our highly successful 20th anniversary <br />performance at The ArtsCenter in September 2022. W ith the success and <br />large audience draw of that performance, the ArtsCenter expressed <br />interest in future collaborations. W e have shared information regarding our <br />proposed performance with the ArtsCenter and have confirmed their <br />interest in hosting our event. <br />By the time of the proposed community performance, the new location for <br />the ArtsCenter will be open. The relocated and redesigned ArtsCenter <br />increases its accessibility to those with physical or mental disabilities. The <br />single-story building features accessible entryways and bathroom facilities <br />and a ramp to the stage in the performance space for greater accessibility <br />to those with mobility aids. <br />W e have also developed contingency options for performance locations <br />should they be necessary, including the Carolina Performing Arts <br />CURRENT ArtSpace (located in Chapel Hill) and Carrboro High School, the <br />latter of which recently hosted “The Greatest Tap Show Ever!” in <br />conjunction with the 2023 North Carolina Rhythm Tap Festival. The <br />CURRENT ArtSpace offers accessible seating options and zero barrier <br />entry. Consistent with NC educational facility requirements, accessibility at <br />Carrboro High School meets ADA requirements. <br />Artist Description FOOTNOTES COMPANY <br />The community performance will primarily feature the Footnotes Tap <br />Ensemble, with special performance from the guest artist/choreographer. <br />Since its founding in 2002, Footnotes has called Orange County home, <br />rehearsing at the Ballet School of Chapel Hill and performing at multiple <br />venues in and around the county. <br />GUEST ARTIST/CHOREOGRAPHER <br />W e have identified several tap dancers who align with our selection criteria <br />of: being well known and influential in the field of tap, capable of bringing a <br />unique style and voice to their choreography that is not already <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: EF1143BC-A16C-4CBC-9A67-8394E5952E55
