Consistent with our commitment to equity and inclusion, the Towns of Chapel Hill and
Carrboro and Orange County Government are taking steps together to center racial
equity in the Human Services Funding Program. We are requesting basic information
about your organization’s racial equity work.
6.How has your organization incorporated racial equity goals into your
organizational goals?
Kidzu has built DEAI (diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion) initiatives into all
planning, whether that be for overall efforts or specific programming. We do so by reaching
out to various communities, especially those of color, to better understand their needs and
build our offerings around this. We have also joined Museums for All and partnered with
several local social service agencies to support equity and inclusion initiatives. In 2022, our
Board of Directors adopted a new Strategic Plan that prioritizes DEAI initiatives at a Board
level and in all aspects of Kidzu’s programming. A community based DEAI Committee is
being formed to encourage more community participation and increase accountability.

7.Please describe how you have involved the intended beneficiaries of the proposed
project in the planning and design process (in 100 words or less).
Kidzu will leverage long-lasting relationships with local organizations to ground our
multicultural/multilingual offerings in community needs and best practices. This includes
working with organizations such as El Centro and Transplanting Traditions, allowing us to
provide competent and culturally responsive programming developed by BIPOC. We also
frequently make use of visitor surveys to conduct needs assessments, in order to be sure
we are providing the most robust and community responsive programming.

8.Please fill in your agency demographics in the table below:
Agency Demographics
Staff Board
Gender
Men 6 8
Women 24 10
Nonbinary/Genderqueer 1 0
Self-Describe 1 1
Total 31 18
Race and Ethnicity
Black or African-American 6 2
American Indian or Alaska Native 0 0
Asian Indian 1 0
White 23 16
Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander 0 0
Chinese 0 0
Japanese 0 0
Program informationPage 12 of 31
DocuSign Envelope ID: 9F73F5ED-FE40-4DB1-BBAD-AF773010D285
