Project Goals HAC’s overall goal for the W eekend of Art is to expand public participation
in the arts, boost support for local artists, and increase visitation to
Hillsborough while continuing to keep the event accessible for the
community.
More specifically, HAC’s goals through this project are to:
-Grow participation in the Handmade Parade to have a more dynamic,
robust, and diverse celebration of local art.
-Further arts education through the W eekend of Art by providing
workshops, tutorials, & other art-making activities..
-Drive tourism, visitation, and economic impact to Hillsborough and Orange
County.
-Hire multicultural artists and performance groups, to create a vibrant arts
experience and improve representation of our community.
-Expand opportunities for artists to sell and share their work with a highly
engaged crowd of Handmade Market attendees.
-Develop meaningful relationships that result in lasting impact for the arts
through community collaborations and partnerships with local businesses.
W ith this program’s expansion and creative innovation, which had
significant incremental impact for Hillsborough’s arts community in 2022,
has come increased costs and the need to secure additional funding in
order to deliver and achieve the stated goals. Additionally, many artists
have had to raise their contract fees in order to keep up with inflation and
increased costs of living in the Triangle. As a result of these factors, and in
effort to provide more opportunities for artists of diverse backgrounds, HAC
is seeking funding for performing & teaching artist support to ensure an
equitable and impactful W eekend of Art.
DocuSign Envelope ID: E9ED2E06-04DF-47DA-BF1A-31359EF7B971
