26 <br /> Ryan Murray said most respondents are willing to pay a fee rather than taxes. He said this <br /> is also asked in Parks and Recreation surveys. He said if you ask them about this and break it <br /> down, it shows that if the respondent would use the service themselves, they say taxes but if they <br /> will not use the service, they say fees. <br /> Vice-Chair McKee asked if there is a city or county that relies more on fees. <br /> Ryan Murray said it is usually fees for sports leagues. He said that social services and <br /> arts, there are taxes used. <br /> Vice-Chair McKee said they use fees, but it is a very small number of services. He said <br /> he cannot imagine a community that provides most services with fees. <br /> Ryan Murray said that fees will usually not support programs long-term. He said that most <br /> things do not push for a future in fee-based structures but that a fee-based subsidy might be. <br /> Slide #36 <br /> Summary <br /> Most respondents believe the overall quality of life in the county is either <br /> "getting worse"(40%)or"staying the same" (44%) <br /> Respondents expect the county to focus on affordable housing,schools,and <br /> health and human services over the next 10-20 years and these services should <br /> be prioritized <br /> Respondents are satisfied with core public safety services,but are less satisfied <br /> with the delivery of social services, and the quality of development,planning, <br /> and zoning <br /> Respondents have made it known that the county needs to do a better job of <br /> keeping residents informed to ensure all county residents are treated equitably <br /> Slide #37 <br /> Questions .? <br /> THANK YOU <br />
