z <br /> In addition to physician Medical Direction services, ZINC Hospitals also provides a nurse liaison <br /> who is responsible for maintaining positive interactions between EMS personnel and nursing <br /> staff in the emergency department. The nurse liaison also facilitates skill evaluations, special <br /> training eeesions and technician reviews with the staff training coordinator, and assists in writing <br /> the required two-year paramedic training program for state approval. The Hospital provides <br /> limited computer support for downloading Information from medical equipment and interpreting <br /> system data. <br /> Performing the duties of medical director requires Dr. Brice to be replaced In her emergency <br /> department clinical rotations from time to time. The$30,000 annual cost to the County of this <br /> agreement helps to offset the costs incurred by the Department of Emergency Medicine in <br /> providing physician coverage for Dr. Brice while she is engaged in performing EMS Medical <br /> Directordutles. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract renewal cost far 201 is for$30,000,the same rate as <br /> in the current annual contract. The Managers recommended budget for the Department of <br /> Emergency Management for FY 2002-03 includes funding for this agreement. <br /> NECOMMENDATIONI The Manager recommends that the Board approve the agreement <br /> and authorize the Chair to sign It. <br />
