Discussion of ASAB Officer Nominations August 2023 —officers elected for 1 year <br /> terms and can be re-elected. <br /> a. Leadership role is to run the monthly ASAB meeting, chair the Hearing Panel <br /> when that convenes, annually report to the Board of County Commissioners and <br /> make sure that the board members remain accountable for obligations and <br /> committee responsibilities. Full description is in ASAB Policy document. <br /> b. Nominations and election will be at August meeting <br /> 3. Dr. Pickett introduced topic of Orange County inspections of kennels that breed and sell <br /> animals. This system should provide oversight to prevent the type of situation that <br /> happened in Hertford County in which the Humane Society of the United States had to <br /> intervene. <br /> Public participation guidelines: Not necessary <br /> General public comments on items not on agenda (3-minute limit): None <br /> Monthly Meeting Attendance Record : Confirmed through approval of meeting minutes <br /> Animal Services Advisory Board: <br /> o Only 1 vacancy on board— the At-Large position remains open <br /> Old Business: Dr. Strong updated us that the OCAS budget was funded as presented to the <br /> county. <br /> Information Items: Dr. Strong's Report <br /> 1. Melissa Ramirez-Grimaldi has filled the Program Coordinator role (internal promotion) <br /> and her former role is being filled internally as well. Now have an opening in Animal <br /> Care Technician role and Animal Control Officer position is also open. <br /> 2. Buckhorn Flea Market - letter sent to owner of market that market will need to be <br /> licensed as a pet shop if vendors are going to sell dogs, cats or small mammals. And <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br />
