This 45-cent stamp, scheduled for <br /> introduction on June 7,2002, will be sold with all proceeds above postage (and the Postal <br /> Services reasonable cost)going to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and <br /> earmarked far assistance to Me families of emergency services personnel who were Word! or <br /> permanently disabled in the line of duty in the September 11, 2001 terronst attacks. <br /> As pan of the everts introducing the stamp and to honor local heroes,the Efland Post Office will <br /> hold an appreciation ceremony far the Efland Volunteer Fire Department on June 7,2002 at <br /> 11:00 a.m. and the stamps will be available for sale to the public. <br /> The Board is asked he proclaim June 7, 2001 as Heroes of 2001 Stamp Day in Orange County <br /> as pan of this stamp introduction events to acknowledge and commemorate both local heroes <br /> and Me heroic personnel of September 11,2001. The Efland Post Office has also requested <br /> the presence of one or more Commissioners at the June 7 ceremony. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with the proclamation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that Me Board approve the proclamation <br /> and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />
