He said that the developer's attorney said that a lot of the <br /> homes in that area have water and he said that needs to be looked at because there are very few <br /> homes in that area that have public water. <br /> Scott Czechlewski said he is the CEO of the Hillsborough's Chamber of Commerce and <br /> that his comments were on behalf of the Board. He said that the applicant created a plan that fits <br /> within the scope of a development deemed appropriate for this site. He said that everything to <br /> approve this charter school has complied with all state and local authorities. He said that the <br /> charter school has been approved to be placed in Orange County by the State Board of Education. <br /> He said that it is their opinion that the application complies with the Orange County <br /> Comprehensive Land Use Plan. He said that the parcel is in the 20-year transition area, meaning <br /> that the county intended for this area to evolve. He said the athletic fields are sorely needed. He <br /> said there is a significant shortage of baseball, softball, tennis, and pickleball courts in the area. <br /> He said that is why this project has strong support from the HYAA and Orange Tennis Club. He <br /> said there will always be traffic fears with any new development, the developers' commitments <br /> will help alleviate those concerns. He said that many proposals for this property have been made <br /> for this parcel over the last 15 years and all have been denied. He said the area youth will be <br /> served in many positive ways. He said that it's time that a project that meets the guidelines of the <br /> UDO and the Comprehensive Plan is approved, and the Hillsborough Board of Directors hopes <br /> that the Commissioners will agree with professional planning staff that recommended this project. <br /> Scott Gastona said he came to Hillsborough 40 years ago to raise quarter horses. He said once Moses Carey was asked about <br /> the school system and his words were "blood and treasure." He said it was the Board's obligation <br /> to think about the future and to solve the problems of blood and treasure. He said this is his first <br /> Board meeting in 30 years and he has been very impressed. He said that this is a deliberative <br /> body.
