Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> Commissioner Fowler had no comments. <br /> Commissioner Greene had no comments. <br /> Commissioner Hamilton said she gave remarks at the opening of the Waterstone Fire and <br /> EMS Station. She said the facility was designed with the input of public safety and is a testament <br /> to the cooperation between Orange County, Orange Rural Fire Department, the Town of <br /> Hillsborough, and all volunteers and first responders. She said she went to the Hargraves <br /> Community Center on May 20t" for the Be Well Resource Fair and Family Fun event. She said <br /> there was a lot of information on mental health resources in the community. She said one item <br /> that caught her attention was discussion about a psycho-active substance called Delta 8. She <br /> said products containing the substance have similar packaging to candy products that children <br /> might buy. She said Delta 8 is legal because it is synthesized from hemp. She said it is important <br /> for the community to recognize that companies are using packaging to lure children into thinking <br /> something is candy. She said it has been brought up at the Health Department, but seeing the <br /> packaging made her realize the extent of the problem. <br /> Chair Bedford said the Board of Health was re-accredited. She said that the Board will <br /> hold their last budget work session on June 8'. She said if anyone had comments, to please get <br /> them to the Board. She said the Board typically does not make any changes to the budget <br /> between the last budget work session and the date of adoption. <br /> Vice-Chair McKee expressed appreciation to everyone in attendance at the meeting. <br /> Commissioner Portie-Ascott also thanked everyone in attendance at the meeting. She <br /> said she completed the ethics requirement for local elected government officials. She said she <br /> attended the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council meeting. She said they wanted to increase the <br /> diversity of the committee and to hear from all members of the community. She said they are <br /> looking for people under 21 years of age and in particular people from the Latino and Asian-Pacific <br /> Islander communities. She said they are also looking for people from the Parks and Recreation <br /> and business communities. <br /> Commissioner Richards had no comments. <br /> As amended earlier in the meeting, Commissioner Fowler made a motion to approve Item <br /> 8 — Consent Agenda, with the addition of item 8-s. Received information and held a public hearing on the issuance of a performance-based <br /> agreement by the County to a private development company; <br /> 2. Approved the proposed performance-based agreement, with claw-back provisions, for the <br /> extension of public utilities (water and sewer) into the Hillsborough Economic <br /> Development District; and <br /> 3.
