Orange County Housing Authority Board —Appointment Discussion <br /> The Board considered an appointment to the Orange County Housing Authority Board. <br /> BACKGROUND: The goal of the Orange County Housing Authority Board is to provide decent, <br /> safe, and sanitary housing for the low and moderate income families in the County. Due to the <br /> nature of its work, the Housing Authority Board does not make recommendations for <br /> appointments. <br /> The Board of County Commissioners appoints all seven (7) members. <br /> The following position is presented for Board consideration: <br /> NAME POSITION TYPE OF EXPIRATION <br /> DESCRIPTION APPOINTMENT DATE <br /> TERM <br /> BOCC At-Large First Full Term 06/30/2027 <br /> Appointment <br /> If the position listed above is filled, no vacancies remain. <br /> Tara May introduced the item. <br /> Commissioner Fowler asked if it is a requirement that someone who is appointed to the <br /> Orange County Housing Authority Board live in Orange County. <br /> Tara May said there was nothing in the statute that requires Orange County residency. <br /> John Roberts said he did not think it was in the statute either, and that this board is not <br /> subject to the Orange County Advisory Board Policy. <br /> Chair Bedford suggested Timothy Miles. <br /> The Board agreed by consensus to appoint Timothy Miles. <br /> 19. Orange County Planning Board —Appointment Discussion <br /> The Board considered an appointment to the Orange County Planning Board. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Planning Board studies Orange County and surrounding areas to <br /> determine objectives in the development of the County. It prepares and recommends plans to <br /> achieve that development, including the suggesting of policies, ordinances, and procedures. It <br /> reviews development applications and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. <br /> Due to the nature of its work, the Planning Board does not make recommendations for <br /> appointments. <br /> The Board of County Commissioners appoints all twelve (12) members. <br /> The following position is presented for Board consideration: <br /> NAME POSITION TYPE OF EXPIRATION <br /> DESCRIPTION APPOINTMENT DATE <br /> TERM <br /> BOCC At-Large First Full Term 03/31/2026 <br /> Appointee <br /> If the position listed above is filled, no vacancies remain. <br />
