1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: September 5, 2023 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-w <br /> SUBJECT: Change in BOCC Meeting Schedule for 2023 <br /> DEPARTMENT: Board of Commissioners <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Revised Text Calendar <br /> Revised Color Calendar Laura Jensen, Clerk to the Board, 919- <br /> 245-2130 <br /> PURPOSE: To consider changes to the Board of Commissioners' meeting calendar for 2023. <br /> BACKGROUND: Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-40, the Board of County <br /> Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings or provide a notice of any change <br /> in the Meeting Schedule. <br /> It is proposed that the Board hold a closed session on September 27, 2023 for personnel <br /> evaluations. The closed session will be held at the Whitted Building in the Donna Baker Meeting <br /> Room at 7:00 p.m. <br /> As previously announced in a public notice dated August 23, 2023, the Board will conduct the <br /> September 12, 2023 work session and the September 19 and October 17, 2023 Business <br /> meetings in the Donna Baker Meeting Room at the Whitted Building. These meetings were <br /> previously scheduled to be held at the Southern Human Services Center in Chapel Hill but were <br /> relocated due to building renovations. <br /> There are no other proposed changes to the Board of Commissioners' 2023 meeting calendar. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br /> with this item. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with this item. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board amend its meeting calendar <br /> for 2023 to hold a closed session at the Whitted Building in the Donna Baker Meeting Room at <br /> 7:00 p.m on September 27, 2023, and to conduct the September 12, 2023 work session and <br /> the September 19 and October 17, 2023 Business meetings in the Donna Baker Meeting Room <br /> at the Whitted Building. <br />
