322 <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and <br />unanimously adopted,.the County Attorney was authorized to proceed with the <br />necessary steps for the purchase of this property at the price quoted. <br />Donald Heyman, Assistant Director of the Institute of Govern ent, and Lyman <br />Melvin presented to the Board the new Position Classification, Pay Plan and <br />Personnel Resolution for Orange County. A discussion ensued concerning the <br />suggested plan. The matter was taken under advisement and a special meeting was <br />set for Tuesday, August 13, 1963, for the purpose of further discussion on-said <br />suggested plan. <br />The matter of a Medical Examiner System was again brought to the attention <br />of the Board. Discussion ensued concerning said system. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, <br />the following resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />WHEREAS, G. S. 130-197 provides that counties may elect to come under Medical <br />Examiner System of the State by passing a resolution to that effect; and <br />WHEREAS, the public interest of Orange County will be better served if the <br />County should have a medical examiner: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Orange County elects to come under the <br />Medical Examiner System of the State and under the provisions of G. S. 130-197 and <br />other statutes relating thereto. <br />The County Attorney was instructed to take the necessary steps to place the <br />Medical Examiner System into effect by September 1, 1963, or as soon thereafter <br />as pratical. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board this meeting was <br />adjourned to meet again on Tuesday, August 13, 1963, at 8 o'clock p.m. at the <br />Commissioners Room at the courthouse. in Hillsboro, N.
