13
1 Tara May, Deputy Clerk to the Board, introduced the item.
2 The Board agreed by consensus to appoint Vaughn Compton (Cedar Grove Voluntary
3 Agricultural District), Kim Woods (Caldwell Voluntary Agricultural District), and Jane Saiers (New
4 Hope/Hillsborough Voluntary Agricultural District).
5 Vice-Chair McKee noted that the Agricultural Preservation Board asked for time to recruit
6 the remaining vacant positions.
7 Commissioner Fowler asked if owning a farm is a requirement to be appointed.
8 Tara May said it is not a requirement for the At-Large position, but it was an interest of the
9 Agricultural Preservation Board for a person with experience to be appointed to the board. She
10 said they were looking for someone with experience in food or timber production. She said for
11 the Schley/Eno Voluntary Agricultural District position, the person appointed would have to have
12 a farm in the area that participated in the VAD program.
13 Commissioner Fowler said the person who applied for the At-Large position had
14 experience that might be valuable to the board.
15 Chair Bedford said that if they do not find anyone by the fall, the Board of Commissioners
16 could consider the applicant for the At-Large position.
17
18 6.
