He said this scholarship is available for short-term workforce credentials <br /> 6 critical for people shifting their position in the workforce. He said this is financial aid that is not <br /> 7 available any other way, as Pell grants and other similar aid are not typically available for <br /> 8 continuing education or short-term courses. He said this scholarship fund is typically depleted <br /> 9 quickly, so he appreciates the extra recommended contribution. <br /> 10 President Buxton said the Carolina Innovation Hub is a new item in conjunction with <br /> 11 UNC-Chapel Hill. He thanked the University, the Town of Chapel Hill, and the Chamber for a <br /> 12 Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro for their letters of support for this so that some programming can <br /> 13 be brought to downtown Chapel Hill. Apprenticeship Coordinator:$8,249 <br /> The College has supported an Apprenticeship Coordinatcrfrom the federal <br /> Higher Education Emergency Belief Funding. The Durham County <br /> Managerhas included a 90% share($69,500)in her recommended(budget. <br /> 2. Facilities Technician and Plumber.,$45,408 <br /> The College requests 20%of both a Facilities Tech position to reduce our <br /> technician per square foot ratio from 100,000 sf to 50,000 sf(industry <br /> standard)and a new plumber position to address a major service need. <br /> These positions will reduce contracted services needs.The Durham <br /> County Manager has included an 80% share($140,715)in her <br /> recommended buds l <br /> 3. He said the federal money that was used <br /> 28 initially to fund this position has run out, and he would like Orange and Durham Counties to <br /> 29 provide the funding as an economic development investment. <br />
