2 <br /> 1 Slide #1 <br /> DURHAM <br /> TECH <br /> BudgetFY 2023-24 <br /> Orange County <br /> 2 <br /> 3 President Buxton introduced Andrew Kleitsch, Chief Financial Officer, Jacklyn Krohn, <br /> 4 Executive Director of Orange County Operations of Durham Tech, and Dr. Kara Battle, Chief <br /> 5 Academic Officer. He said he will go over items included in the Manager's Recommended <br /> 6 Budget and will also discuss items that are included in the Durham County Manager's <br /> 7 Recommended Budget that are intended to be joint funding opportunities. He said he is excited <br /> 8 about the continued expansion of the Orange County Campus and will keep the Board apprised <br /> 9 of the developments. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Slide #2 <br /> INCLUDED IN THE MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> 1. Durham Tech Promise; $290,000 <br /> Continued fundingof$200,00c)for Durham Tech Promise scholarships <br /> for public high scools graduates <br /> Z Back to Work scholarships:$100,000 <br /> Back to Work scholarships for f-B week courses that offer preparation <br /> for in-demand, entry-level jobs in areas like biotech,health care, <br /> construction,and IT,The scholarships cover the costof tuition <br /> (average$250)and$250 to defray the expense of books,supplies, <br /> and technology. <br /> 3. Carolina Innovation Hub rent:$20,000 <br /> Request for rent for new space in the Innovation Hub in partnership <br /> with UNC-Chapel Mill for workforce training,small business <br /> counseling.and other programming_In future years,the rent will <br /> increase to$100,000 to support dedicated space in this new facility, <br /> 4. Small Business Center(SBC) Coordinator: $70,000 <br /> Request for continued funding of the position F4 <br /> 12 <br /> 13 President Buxton thanked Bonnie Hammersley for the support of these items and their <br /> 14 inclusion in the Manager's recommended budget. He said the Durham Tech Promise provides <br /> 15 up to $500 per semester for up to four semesters for graduates of Orange County High Schools. <br />
