Team 7763, Carrborobotics, won the UNC <br /> 2 Pembroke District Event and also competed at the North Carolina District State <br /> 3 Championship. These four teams inspire students of all ages to pursue STEM opportunities <br /> 4 through robotics. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Commissioner Fowler read the following proclamation: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 9 <br /> 10 PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE <br /> 11 SUCCESS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF <br /> 12 ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ROBOTICS TEAMS <br /> 13 <br /> 14 WHEREAS, On April 2, Team 587, The Hedgehogs, comprised of students from Orange and <br /> 15 Cedar Ridge High Schools, won the First Robotics Competition North Carolina <br /> 16 District State Championship, and the team was subsequently invited to compete in <br /> 17 the international First Robotics Championship; and <br /> 18 <br /> 19 WHEREAS, On April 2, Team 4795, Eastbots, comprised of students from East Chapel Hill High <br /> 20 School, achieved the top ranking in the North Carolina district and were likewise <br /> 21 invited to compete in the international First Robotics Championship; and <br /> 22 <br /> 23 WHEREAS, On April 19-22, both Team 4795, Eastbots, and Team 587, The Hedgehogs, <br /> 24 performed exceptionally well at the international First Robotics Championship, <br /> 25 reaching the playoffs in their respective divisions; and <br /> 26 <br /> 27 WHEREAS, On March 12, Team 4829, Titanium Tigers, comprised of students from Chapel Hill <br /> 28 High School, won the Johnston County District event, and later competed at the <br /> 29 North Carolina District State Championship; and <br /> 30 <br /> 31 WHEREAS, On March 26, Team 7763, Carrborobotics, comprised of students from Carrboro <br /> 32 High School, won the UNC Pembroke District Event, and later competed at the <br /> 33 North Carolina District State Championship; and <br /> 34 <br /> 35 WHEREAS, With the support of the Board of Orange County Commissioners, Orange County <br /> 36 Schools, and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, all four Orange County First <br /> 37 Robotics Teams have increased their collaboration with teams in the county and <br /> 38 across North Carolina; <br /> 39 <br /> 40 NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Board of Orange County Commissioners <br /> 41 expresses its sincere gratitude and admiration to the students and mentors of <br /> 42 Team 587, The Hedgehogs, Team 4795, Eastbots, Team 4829, Titanium Tigers, <br /> 43 and Team 7763, Carrborobotics for their broad range of talents, impact on their <br /> 44 schools and community, and dedication to inspiring students of all ages to pursue <br /> 45 opportunities in STEM through robotics. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 This the 161h day of May, 2023. <br /> 48 <br /> 49 <br />
