Orange County Housing Authority Board —Appointment Discussion <br /> 2 The Board considered an appointment to the Orange County Housing Authority Board. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 BACKGROUND: The goal of the Orange County Housing Authority Board is to provide decent, <br /> 5 safe, and sanitary housing for the low and moderate income families in the County. Due to the <br /> 6 nature of its work, the Housing Authority Board does not make recommendations for <br /> 7 appointments. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 The Board of County Commissioners appoints all seven (7) members. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 The following position is presented for Board consideration: <br /> 12 <br /> NAME POSITION TYPE OF EXPIRATION <br /> DESCRIPTION APPOINTMENT DATE <br /> TERM <br /> BOCC At-Large First Full Term 06/30/2027 <br /> Appointment <br /> 13 <br /> 14 If the position listed above is filled, no vacancies remain. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Tara May introduced the item. <br /> 17 Commissioner Fowler asked if it is a requirement that someone who is appointed to the <br /> 18 Orange County Housing Authority Board live in Orange County. <br /> 19 Tara May said there was nothing in the statute that requires Orange County residency. <br /> 20 John Roberts said he did not think it was in the statute either, and that this board is not <br /> 21 subject to the Orange County Advisory Board Policy. <br /> 22 Chair Bedford suggested Timothy Miles. <br /> 23 The Board agreed by consensus to appoint Timothy Miles. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 19. Orange County Planning Board —Appointment Discussion <br /> 26 The Board considered an appointment to the Orange County Planning Board. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 BACKGROUND: The Planning Board studies Orange County and surrounding areas to <br /> 29 determine objectives in the development of the County. It prepares and recommends plans to <br /> 30 achieve that development, including the suggesting of policies, ordinances, and procedures.
