Historic Preservation Commission —Appointment Discussion <br /> 6 The Board considered an appointment to the Historic Preservation Commission. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 BACKGROUND: The Historic Preservation Commission is charged with undertaking an <br /> 9 inventory of properties of historical, prehistorical, architectural, and/or cultural significance. It <br /> 10 recommends areas to be designated or removed as "historic districts" and reviews and acts upon <br /> 11 proposals for alterations, demolition, new construction, etc. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 The Board of County Commissioners appoints all seven (7)At-Large members. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 The following individual is recommended for Board consideration: <br /> 16 <br /> NAME POSITION TYPE OF EXPIRATION <br /> DESCRIPTION APPOINTMENT DATE <br /> TERM <br /> Thomas Loter At-Large One Year Extension 06/30/2024 <br /> 17 <br /> 18 If the individual listed above is appointed, no vacancies remain. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Tara May introduced the item. <br /> 21 Chair Bedford noted that the other applicant was chair of the history department at <br /> 22 Rutgers University. <br /> 23 Tara May said that the commission stated that the other applicant did not have the <br /> 24 recommended background in history, architecture, building restoration, landscape architecture, <br /> 25 or archeology. <br /> 26 Commissioner Greene said she was willing to honor the commission's request. <br /> 27 The Board agreed by consensus on the recommended applicant, Thomas Loter. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 15. Human Relations Commission —Appointments Discussion <br /> 30 The Board considered appointments to the Human Relations Commission. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 BACKGROUND: The Human Relations Commission advises the Board of County <br /> 33 Commissioners on solutions to problems in the field of human relationships. It also makes <br /> 34 recommendations designed to promote goodwill and harmony among groups in the County <br /> 35 irrespective of their race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, <br /> 36 disability, age, marital status or status with regard to public assistance. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 The Board of County Commissioners appoints all twelve (12) members. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 The following individuals are recommended for Board consideration: <br /> 41 <br />
