Pre-bid conferences were held for the installation and asbestos abatement portions of the <br /> project. The attached bid tabulations i aflecl the low bidders for each section of work to be as follows: <br /> 1. Rubber Floor Tile (bid #1249) Continental Flooring of Scottsdale,AZ-$40,852.50 <br /> 2. Asbestos Abatement of existing tile in Recreation (bid#1266), Providence Environmental of <br /> Columbia, SC-$7,209.40 <br /> 3. Air quality monitoring of asbestos abatement (bid #1266), EI, Durham, NC-$2,275.00 <br /> 4. Installation of rubber floor tile and base molding (bid #1282), Fluor Masters, Burlington, NC - <br /> $28,250.00 <br /> As the scope of work in the Whined Building includes only removal of carpel and replacement with <br /> rubber tile, work can be scheduled to cause minimal dismption to the clients and employees. <br /> However, the necessity to close the Recreation Center for up to seven (7)calendar days for asbestos <br /> abatement Is anticipated The HVAC replacement Is scheduled M commence in the Reaeation <br /> Center around August land be completed wittin approximately 8 weeks. In order to minimize the <br /> possibility of damage to the new tile,the file replacement will be set to coincide with the completion of <br /> the HVAC replacement in that area. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Total cost of this action, H approved by the Board,would be $78,586.90. <br /> Sufficient funds are available in the Counlys current Long—Range Capital Plan, <br /> RECOMMENOATION(5): The Manager recommends that the Board award bids to the low bidders <br /> as identiFled above at a total cost of$78,586.90 for all phases; and authorize the Purchasing Director <br /> to execute the necessary paperwork. <br />
