MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br />Pavement Marking Lines will be measured and paid as the actual number of linear feetof <br />pavement marking lines satisfactorily placed and accepted by the Engineer. In addition,Paint <br />Pavement Marking Lines will be paid per linear foot for each 15 mil application placed <br />The quantity of solid lines will be the summation of the linear feet of solid line measured end-to- <br />end of the line. <br />Pavement Marking Symbols will be measured and paid as the actual number of pavement <br />marking symbols satisfactorily placed and accepted by the Engineer. In addition, Paint <br />Pavement Marking Symbols will be paid for each 15 mil application placed. <br />Pavement Marking Characters will be measured and paid as the actual number of characters <br />satisfactorily placed and accepted by the Engineer. A character is considered to be one letter or <br />one number of a word message. In addition, Paint Pavement Marking Characters will be paid for <br />each 15 mil application placed. <br />Payment at the contract unit price for the various items in the contract will be full compensation <br />for all the items covered by this section. No direct payment will be made for the work involved <br />in applying the lines, including surface preparation; reapplication of molten pavement marking <br />crossed by a vehicle. <br />Replacement of pavement markings that prematurely deteriorated, failed to adhere to the <br />pavement, lacked reflectorization or were otherwise unsatisfactory during the life of the project <br />or during the 12 month observation period as determined by the Engineer will be at nocost to <br />Durham Public Schools. Payment for Paint Pavement Marking Lines required to winterize the <br />project will be made in accordance with Article 1205-10 except that no payment will be made on <br />resurfacing projects where paving is completed more than 30 days before the written notification <br />by Durham Public Schools that winterization is required. <br />Payment will be made under: <br />Pay Item Pay Unit <br />Paint Pavement Marking Lines Linear Foot <br />Paint Pavement Marking Symbols Each <br />Paint Pavement Marking Characters Each <br />ADJUSTMENT OF MANHOLES, DROP INLETS, METER BOXES AND VALVE BOXES <br />DESCRIPTION <br />Raise or <br />lower existing manholes, drop inlets, meter boxes and valve boxes encountered within the limits of the <br />project to match the adjacent finished work. <br />CONSTRUCTION METHODS <br />Perform the adjustment with brick masonry, block masonry or Portland cement concrete on existing <br />walls in accordance with Subarticle 840 3(C). Adjust manholes, meter boxes and valve boxes as provided <br />above by using approved fittings. When fittings are used, leave the existing walls in place and securely <br />attach the fittings to the existing walls or install in a manner that will eliminate movement of the fitting. <br />Backfill excavated areas in an existing pavement with Portland cement concrete.
