32U <br />3. A special fire tax of $ .10 on the $100.00 of property valuation shall be <br />levied on all property in the Greater Chapel Hill Fire District. <br />4. On each open female dog (6) month of age or older the sum of $2.00 on all <br />other dogs the sum of $1.00. <br />5. On each marriage license a tax of $4.00. <br />6. In accordance with Section B of the Revenue Act (Article 2, Chapter 5 of <br />the General Statutes) and any other section of the General Statutes there is hereby <br />levied a privilege license tax in the maximum amount permitted on all businesses, <br />trades, occupations or professions which the county is entitled to tax. <br />Fred Claytor, Mayor of the Town of Hillsboro, requested the Board to consider <br />appropriating $1000.00 annually to the town Fire Department. Mayor Claytor explained <br />that the town needed improved fire protection and that said protection could only be <br />given with adequate equipment, this included the purchase of a new fire truck. <br />Discussion ensued on Mayor Claytor0a request. Chairman Stanford directed that the <br />request be referred to the County Attorney for a ruling concerning the legal aspect <br />as to whether any action could be taken by the county to appropriate monies to the <br />Town of Hillsboro. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Smith, and <br />unanimously adopted, The News was given the contract to publish the tax sale <br />advertisements. <br />Chairman Stanford informed the Board that Don Matheson, the countyts represent- <br />ative on the Research Triangle Regional Planning Commission, bad resigned from this <br />position. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Bennett, and <br />unanimously adopted, Clarence D. Jones of Hillsboro was appointed as Orange County's <br />representative on the Research Triangle Research Planning Commission to fill the <br />unexpired term of Don Matheson. <br />Upon motion of Commi.ssioner.Smith, seconded by Coimniesioner"Bennett.the <br />following,motion was unanimously adopted, that effective on the date of the recent <br />"'annexation all property in the Greater Chapel Hill Fire District that was annexed <br />into the Town of Chapel Hill be removed from the tax roll of the Fire District and <br />that no Special Fire tax be levied on this property after the 1962-1963 fiscal <br />year. <br />I' There.being no further business to come before the Board this meeting was
