The four project objectives are: <br /> (1)Prepare an environmental seen of key information needed to help identify housing needs <br /> for alder adults at present and in the future. <br /> (2)Develop and implement the surrey that measures future housing needs of persons 55+ <br /> in Orange County. <br /> (3)Compile and analyze data from the housing assessment Into a comprehensive report <br /> with recommendations. <br /> (4) Disseminate Information and recommendations developed from the Orange County <br /> Senior Housing Assessment to include holding a"State of Senior Housing in Orange <br /> County' Breakfast. <br /> This funding request would cover all expenses of the project including employing a temporary, <br /> part time graduate student from the DNC School of Social Work who would work from June, <br /> 2002 through May, 2003, providing approximately 1000 hours of we*for this project. The <br /> graduate student wouM be under the supervision of Department on Aging Director and Vice- <br /> Chair of the Aging Board,with consultation provided by the Director of the County's Housing <br /> and Community Development Department <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The estimated cost to the County of carrying out the Senior Housing <br /> Assessment Budget Is$6,000_ Carol Woods Retirement Community will provide in-kind office <br /> space, a telephone and a computer for Ne graduate student and senior volunteers far the <br /> survey phase. Adequate funds to cover the County's cost for this undertaking are available In <br /> the FY 2001-02 operating budget and can be carded forward to cover project expenses in FY <br /> 2002-03. <br /> RECOM1IMENOATION(S): The County Manager recommends that the Board approve the <br /> expenditium of funds for the planning and implementation of the Senior Housing Assessment <br /> Project beginning June, 2002. <br />
