Orange County Short Range Transit Plan, RFLOI No 367-005394 I Letter of Interest
Orange County,NC/Orange County Public Transit
i
„17;
■
F
I
CYiATHA r,0U,4TV TpAT{57t DEMAND
I
Nelson\Nygaard held focus groups in Savannah, GA get feedback on transit demand for the CAT Master Transit Plan
2.1 Public Involvement Plan
Community engagement and consensus is vital to the success of any transit study, particularly one that will likely
include recommendations for route changes. Our team, led by Public Participation Partners,will develop a public
involvement plan to ensure the Short Range Transit Plan reflects the shared needs, priorities, and values of all
segments of the greater Orange County. Within two weeks of the project kickoff meeting, our team will draft a
public involvement plan detailing:
■ Outreach goals and objectives for the two phases of engagement
• Project messaging that is accessible to the general public
■ How the team will make a concerted effort to engage with environmental justice communities, low-
income households, communities of color, populations with limited English proficiency, and other
communities that rely on public transit
■ Potential stakeholders and organizations to engage
The Public Involvement Plan will also detail potential engagement strategies. Nelson\Nygaard and P3 have
extensive experience collaborating across diverse audiences to develop transit plans, including transit plans in
the Triangle Region. We're focused on learning and adapting our approach,and through these lessons,we will
develop strategies for facilitating conversations about transit service trade-offs.
Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates,Inc.116
