US 70 Corridor Public Study
The Durham Chapel Hill Carrboro MPO is conducting a study of US 70 West, from NC 119 in
Mebane to US 751 in Orange County. The project will identify the necessary process steps for launching such a program with local
stakeholders (including schedule, cost, logistics) to support the success of future programs, or the
possibility of dedicated funding to establish a countermeasure program in coordination with Divi-
sion resurfacing schedules. This project will form the foundation for future deployment work with
regard to bicycle and pedestrian countermeasures.
The lead for this project is Edward Johnson at IMD. You can reach out to him for more information
at erjohnson2@ncdot.gov.
