2 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE NAME "JAMES TAYLOR BRIDGE" <br /> FOR BRIDGE ON US 15-501 OVER MORGAN CREEK <br /> WHEREAS, the North Carolina Board of TmOsponatlOn (NCBOT)will consider local <br /> requests to name bridges according to procedures approved by the Board in July <br /> 2000; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Chapel Hill Museum has requested that North Carolina Department <br /> of Transportation along with the Town of Chapel Hill name the new bridge on US <br /> Highway 16501 crossing Morgan Creek in Chapel Hill 'The James Taylor <br /> Bridge'; and <br /> WHEREAS, James Taylor is a gifted musician of worldwide recognition and fame who <br /> grew up along Morgan Creek in Chapel Hill, and has referenced ties to North <br /> Carolina in his scngs "Cardin In My Mind" and "Copperline";and <br /> WHEREAS, the badge proposed to be named"fhe James Taylor Bril is located <br /> on U.S. Highway 15-501, a major route through southern Orange County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has endorsed a resolution adopted by the Board <br /> of Directors of the Chapel Hill Mgaegm tD name the bridge over Morgan Creek <br /> for James Taylor, and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposal to name the said bridge for James Taylor has been <br /> endorsed by the Chapel Hill Museum and the Morgan Creek Valley Alliance;and <br /> WHEREAS, James Taylor's family has expressed support for naming the bridge for <br /> James Taylor,and"is pleased that Chapel Hill desires to honor James in MIS <br /> fashion". <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners requests North Carolina Board of Transportation to name the bridge on <br /> US 15-501 crossing Morgan Greek for musician James Taylor. <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Seconded by Commissioner <br /> Me foregoing resolution was adopted MIS the day of <br /> 2002. <br /> i <br />
