Historic Preservation Commission —Appointment Discussion <br /> The Board considered an appointment to the Historic Preservation Commission. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Historic Preservation Commission is charged with undertaking an <br /> inventory of properties of historical, prehistorical, architectural, and/or cultural significance. It <br /> recommends areas to be designated or removed as "historic districts" and reviews and acts upon <br /> proposals for alterations, demolition, new construction, etc. <br /> The Board of County Commissioners appoints all seven (7) At-Large members. <br /> The following individual is recommended for Board consideration: <br /> NAME POSITION TYPE OF EXPIRATION <br /> DESCRIPTION APPOINTMENT DATE <br /> TERM <br /> Stephen Peck At-Large One Year Extension 03/31/2024 <br /> If the individual listed above is appointed, no vacancies remain. <br /> Tara May, Deputy Clerk to the Board, introduced the item. She said the commission <br /> requested an extension because Mr. Peck is the lead planner for the events surrounding the 250`h <br /> anniversary of Orange County. <br /> Chair Bedford noted that the other application for consideration was incomplete. <br /> Commissioner Greene said the recommended individual has done a lot of work for the <br /> Historic Preservation Commission. <br /> The Board agreed by consensus on the recommended individual. <br /> 8. Orange County Housing Authority Board —Appointments Discussion <br /> The Board considered appointments to the Orange County Housing Authority Board. <br /> BACKGROUND: The goal of the Orange County Housing Authority Board is to provide decent, <br /> safe, and sanitary housing for the low- and moderate-income families in the County.
