DocuSign Envelope ID: F10DCB93-553A-477F-8523-7B3573847716 <br /> Related meeting notes: <br /> • Oaths of Office were administered to the following members prior to the meeting being called <br /> to order: <br /> Barbara Levine <br /> Leon Meyers <br /> Hunter Beattie <br /> Shannon Julian <br /> Sarojini Salvi <br /> • Chair Meyers called the meeting to order at 1:05pm <br /> • Mr.Meyers opened the Board for accepting appeals for 2023.No appeals were scheduled for this <br /> convening meeting. <br /> • The following meeting dates for 2023 were reviewed with no objections from the board members: <br /> April 27,2023 1:00-5:00pm(Convene) <br /> June 6,2023 1:00-5:00pm <br /> June 7,2023 1:00-5:00pm <br /> June 8,2023 1:00-5:00pm <br /> June 20,2023 1:00-5:00pm <br /> June 21,2023 1:00-5:00pm <br /> June 22,2023 1:00-5:00pm(Adjourn) <br /> Mr. Phillips explained the likelihood of the need for additional meetings to be scheduled after the <br /> adjournment date of June 6,2023 as appeals will continue to be filed for personal property and <br /> other property tax issues. <br /> • Mr. Phillips offered an explanation of duties for both the regular and alternate board members. <br /> • Mr.Meyers suggested introductions. All attendees introduced themselves and provided their <br /> affiliation with the Tax Office or BOER. <br /> • Mr. Phillips shared information regarding a course offered through the UNC School of <br /> Government that might be beneficial for board members to take. Anyone interested in this course <br /> was instructed to contact him for information about enrolling. <br /> • Mr. Phillips shared a BOER Policy advisory from 2016, a charge from the Board of County <br /> Commissioners of Orange County. Mr. Phillips discussed some of the circumstances listed in the <br /> advisory in which the BOER can exercise their compromise authority, such as hardship or <br /> fairness. <br /> • Mr. Phillips provided a brief training session on using the Spatialest Appeals website and stated <br /> that any information and evidence for upcoming appeals would be available to view no later than <br /> three days prior to the board meeting. Mr. Phillips explained the labels,property record cards and <br /> some of the comparable sale options that can be used in Spatialest and informed the previous <br /> board members that their user IDs and passwords would remain the same from last year. Mr. <br /> Phillips also assured the new members that he would be in contact with them about getting their <br /> Spatialest access. All board members will have"view only"access to Spatialest. <br />
