1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 20, 2023 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-e <br /> SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing Susan Worley <br /> DEPARTMENT: County Manager <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Proclamation Bonnie Hammersley, 919-245-2300 <br /> PURPOSE: To consider a proclamation recognizing and expressing gratitude to Susan Worley <br /> for her devotion and service to the people of Orange County. <br /> BACKGROUND: After 35 years of service with Volunteers for Youth, Inc., Susan Worley is <br /> stepping down as the Executive Director. <br /> Ms. Worley has been a leader in providing services for area youth for much of her life. Under her <br /> leadership, Volunteers for Youth has excelled as a non-profit organization assisting youth across <br /> Orange County through teen court, community service, and mentoring programs. <br /> Ms. Worley has also offered leadership and guidance to the countless individuals, providing <br /> career advice and encouragement, and set a high standard for generations of nonprofit leaders. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with consideration of the <br /> proclamation. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: There is no Orange County Social Justice Goal impact associated <br /> with consideration of the proclamation. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: There is no Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact associated with consideration of the proclamation. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve and authorize the <br /> Chair to sign the attached proclamation recognizing and expressing appreciation to Susan Worley <br /> for her service to the people of Orange County and wishing her well in her retirement. <br />
