Weavers Grove, a high visibility project that has
received national attention. We are currently also
in discussion with Advanced Energy about the
potential to provide additional funding to support
our solar efforts in the future. The success of the
proposed project would be extremely helpful in
securing these future funds.

Climate Action Grant funds have played a pivotal
role in launching Habitat’s renewable energy
initiative. An additional investment of $112,000
from the Climate Action Fund would signal to the
community Orange County’s strong dedication to
the goals of this project, while raising visibility and
attracting additional public and private support.
Habitat has a strong record of leveraging dollars
invested by the County to raise additional funds.

The national conversation between Habitat and
Rotary also holds potential to unlock new funding
opportunities, potentially at the Federal level, to
ensure the sustainability of Habitat’s solar
operations for years to come.
28. Please describe any projects
that you have completed
successfully in the past which are
similar to the project you are
proposing:
Habitat has successfully installed solar panels on ten affordable
homes in Orange County, with four additional homes in progress.
The majority of the solarized houses are located on Odie Street in
Hillsborough, a quickly growing area of Orange County where
preserving affordability is a priority. Additional solar panels were
installed on duplexes in downtown Carrboro, representing the
first affordable homeownership project to incorporate solar
within Town of Carrboro limits. These thirteen installations are
DocuSign Envelope ID: 9E4C108B-9C5C-4E75-9AF1-C4CA2E16CEC5
