In some projects, collaborators and partners provide essential capacity and connections. If collaborators
or partners are an essential part of your project whether or not they are receiving grant funds, please
use this section to provide more details. If you are not working with collaborators or partners, please
feel free to write N/A in this section and move to the Social Justice and Racial Equity section.
13. Please describe one to three key
partnerships/ collaborations that
add the most value to the success
of the proposed
project:
Habitat has a long history of serving the community through
collaborative partnerships. For the proposed project, Habitat
plans to partner with local solar installation companies with
extensive expertise in green technology. Southern Energy
Management (SEM) has partnered with Habitat for all previous
solar installations. SEM is an RTP-based certified B-Corporation
that is a leading rooftop solar and building performance expert in
the Southeast. Their expertise has been recognized by numerous
awards, including the 2021 Energy Star Award for Partner of the
Year for Sustained Excellence. In 2019 alone, solar installations
completed by SEM impacted more than 16,000 families. The
company also gives each of its employees eight hours of paid time
off to volunteer each year to support a local community cause.

Strata Clean Energy, LLC has donated 260 new solar panels to
Habitat. By securing funding to support an additional fourteen
homes, Habitat hopes to elevate our relationships with Strata into
an ongoing, long-term partnership. Strata is a Durham-based
leader in the clean energy field with projects located across the
country. Like SEM, Strata is committed to giving back to the
community. In addition to their partnership with Habitat, the
company provides education, philanthropy, and volunteer hours
to support a variety of local causes.

Habitat will continue to partner with local Rotary and UNC Clubs,
who will apply for small district grants and help to secure
equipment donations. Rotary is the embodiment of community
service and has been a central partner in Habitat’s solar
endeavors from the beginning. Local Rotary members are also
leveraging their relationships with Rotary at the national level,
with exciting implications for the replication of this partnership
across the county.

Criterion 1 - Social Justice and Racial Equity

DocuSign Envelope ID: 9E4C108B-9C5C-4E75-9AF1-C4CA2E16CEC5
