Youth Climate Leadership Project $10,000 $15,000 $5,000 $30,000 <br />Rooftop solar panels for affordable Habitat <br />homes <br /> $112,000 $0 $0 $112,000 <br /> <br />Briefly explain your proposed use of funds (2-4 sentences): <br /> <br />Habitat for Humanity of Orange County proposes to use $112,000 in Orange County Community Climate Action <br />Grant funds to install rooftop solar panels on fourteen newly constructed affordable Habitat homes in <br />Hillsborough and Chapel Hill. This initiative will be undertaken in partnership with East Chapel Hill and <br />Hillsborough Rotary Clubs, Southern Energy Management, and Strata Clean Energy. <br /> <br />The solar installations will help to address inequities in access to green technology in Orange County, while <br />promoting environmental and resident health by decreasing the amount of fossil fuels burned. Limiting monthly <br />energy costs is a critical component of housing affordability.
