Staff Working Group: A working group comprised of staff representatives from multiple County
departments will review draft work products and provide feedback; provide reactions to the
consultant team on public engagement approaches and activities; and serve as ambassadors to
the planning effort, including a liaison role to respective staff and advisory boards, where
applicable. The Committee will meet monthly through most of the planning process.

A complete list of Project Deliverables and Fee Schedule are provided as Attachment “A” to the
Contract (Attachment 1).

Next Steps
Project kick-off week will be July 17-21, 2023. Clarion Associates will be scheduling stakeholder
interviews with members of the Planning Board, BOCC, and others. The purpose of these
interviews is to prepare an early diagnosis of critical planning issues and opportunities that will
help guide plan development.

Planning staff has been asked by the BOCC to coordinate with Clarion Associates to amend the
contract to include additional meetings between the consultant and BOCC. While staff will consult
with Clarion to incorporate, it is anticipated that these meetings may be most beneficial to coincide
with each of the three public outreach windows. Planning staff will request consideration of the
associated contract amendment on the September 5, 2023 Commissioners’ agenda, which is the
first meeting following the Board’s summer meeting break.

FINANCIAL IMPACT: The approved consultant contract to complete the Comprehensive Land
Use Plan is $188,204.

RECOMMENDATION(S): None – item is for informational purposes only.
46
