1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: June 6, 2023 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 8-h <br /> SUBJECT: Contract Renewal with Central Square Technologies <br /> DEPARTMENT: Emergency Services (ES) and <br /> Information Technologies (IT) <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Kirby Saunders, 919-245-6123 <br /> Jim Northrup, 919-245-2276 <br /> PURPOSE: To approve and authorize the Manager to sign a one year software maintenance and <br /> support contract renewal with Central Square Technologies, LLC. <br /> BACKGROUND: Orange County Emergency Services uses a software application provided by <br /> Central Square Technologies for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and 911 center operations. <br /> This application has been in use over nine (9) years, and use of the application requires annual <br /> fees for licensing and technical support. For standardization and compatibility, this contract <br /> requires an exception to the County's purchasing rules because the licensing and technical <br /> support can only be purchased from Central Square Technologies, LLC. The service is only <br /> provided by Central Square Technologies, LLC, and there are no resellers of this service. <br /> This renewal contract will cover licensing and technical support for a one-year period beginning <br /> in August 2023. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the services covered by the contract renewal is $116,417.74. <br /> SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal impact is <br /> applicable to this item: <br /> • CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br /> The reduction of risks from vehicle/traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang <br /> activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: The following Orange County Environmental Responsibility Goal <br /> impact is applicable to this item: <br /> • ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND WASTE REDUCTION <br /> Initiate policies and programs that: 1) conserve energy; 2) reduce resource consumption; <br /> 3) increase the use of recycled and renewable resources; and 4) minimize waste stream <br /> impacts on the environment. <br /> This application reduces and in some cases eliminates paper use and creates a more efficient <br /> workplace. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve this contract <br /> renewal and authorize the Manager to execute the contract and any future amendments. <br />
