2 <br /> ten years, except for the creation of not more than three lots that meet applicable County zoning and <br /> subdivision regulations. <br /> The Orange County Agricultural Preservation Board reviewed the findings of the staff <br /> assessments for the attached applications for the Orange County Voluntary Agricultural District <br /> program at its regular meeting in May 2023. All farm applications were reviewed and verified to <br /> have met or exceeded the minimum criteria for certification into the program. <br /> The Agricultural Preservation Board voted to recommend approval of the certification for these <br /> five (5) farms, and their inclusion in the Voluntary and/or the Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural <br /> District programs. The certification documentation is on file in the DEAPR/Soil and Water <br /> Conservation District office. The farms are described briefly below: <br /> Brief Farm Descriptions: <br /> 1) Owners Larry and Judy Roberts, Trustees submitted an application to enroll four (4) parcels <br /> of land totaling 73.32 acres as qualifying farmland for a Voluntary Agricultural District in the <br /> Eno/Schley Agricultural District Region. The farm operation includes hay production, honey <br /> production, and managed forest land. <br /> 2) Owners Sven MacAller and Rita Lahlou submitted an application to enroll two (2) parcels of <br /> land totaling 79.93 acres as qualifying farmland for an Enhanced Voluntary Agricultural District <br /> in the White Cross Agricultural District Region. The farm operation includes small grains, <br /> beans, corn, produce, and managed forest land. <br /> 3) Owners Jane Saiers and Darin Knapp of RambleRill Farm submitted an application to enroll <br /> one (1) additional parcel of land totaling 18.33 acres as qualifying farmland for an Enhanced <br /> Voluntary Agricultural District in the New Hope Agricultural District Region. The farm operation <br /> includes land managed for hay, with plans to transition to annual and perennial <br /> fruits/vegetables, and woodlands. <br /> 4) Owners Marvin and Diane Pope submitted an application to enroll two (2) parcels of land <br /> totaling 46.86 acres as qualifying farmland for a Voluntary Agricultural District in the Cedar <br /> Grove Agricultural District Region. The farm operation includes tobacco, small grains, and <br /> managed forest land. <br /> 5) Owner Matthew Crabtree submitted an application to re-enroll one (1) parcel of land totaling <br /> 43.99 acres as qualifying farmland for a Voluntary Agricultural District in the Cedar Grove <br /> Agricultural District Region. The farm operation includes managed forest land and hay <br /> production. This land was enrolled as a Voluntary Agricultural District by the previous owners, <br /> Marvin and Diane Pope, as parcel # 9859417109, and ownership has now been transferred. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with this item. Voluntary <br /> Agricultural Districts are non-monetary and require a non-binding 10-year conservation <br /> agreement.
