I was also head of <br /> Morrison Art Studio, an art studio on campus, until January 2023, when I had to step <br /> down to focus on writing a poetry book for a grant I recieved. <br /> Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: <br /> I have never served on an Orange County Advisory Board before. <br /> Boards/Commissions applied for: <br /> Arts Commission <br /> Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board <br /> I am applying for the Student Liaison position, where I hope to represent the UNC student body. I <br /> am currently a rising Senior at UNC, majoring in English and minoring in Studio Art and <br /> Advertising. I previously worked at Morrison Art Studio, where I was able to help make the arts <br /> more accessible to the UNC community. I also am involved with SAMA, the Studio Art Major <br /> Association. While I was in high school, I also served as a student representative for my local <br /> community s Friend s of the Library Board, so I also have experience as a student liaison. <br /> Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board <br /> I would like to serve on this board to help UNC students get more involved with the arts and <br /> inform the county of what is happening in the arts community on campus. While I worked for <br /> Morrison Arts Studio and Arts Everywhere, I was able to learn about the arts scene here at UNC <br /> and I would love to serve on this board and expand on the artistic community that already exists <br /> on campus. Many arts organizations don t get coverage or funding and I hope to raise more <br /> awareness about the artistic culture at UNC. <br /> How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? <br /> My perspective as a student would help raise awareness of arts activities and organizations on <br /> campus that the Arts Commission might otherwise not be aware of. I have connections to the <br /> literary arts and visual arts communities here on campus and I would love to share these <br />
