County board of health; appointment; terms <br /> The statute states that the BOH shall meet at least quarterly. <br /> Dr. Jonnal liked the current meeting frequency but stated she was open to changes. <br /> Ms. Stewart stated that it has been customary to have the board meetings after work <br /> hours as it gives the public an opportunity to attend, offer comment and participate. <br /> Dr. Baldwin also agreed the current meeting schedule works but is also open to change. <br /> Ms. Stewart noted that there must be at least four meetings scheduled for the year. <br /> Ms. Rodgers mentioned that would we have to lengthen the meeting time if we shorten <br /> the amount of meetings. She also commented that the board meetings rarely end early. <br /> Dr. Pickett added that she liked the staffs' educational sessions. <br /> Dr. Crandell stated that he liked having the meetings on Wednesdays and not in the <br /> months of July and December. <br /> Ms. Bagby stated that he did not see how the Board could be effective if not meeting <br /> monthly. He remarked that an issue could arise and waiting to meet as a board may make the <br /> issue worse. <br /> Commissioner Bedford agreed with keeping the monthly meeting schedule. <br /> Ms. Royce was in agreement with Commissioner Bedford. <br /> In response to Dr. Baldwin's comment about having a board retreat annually or every 18 <br /> months, Ms. Rodgers stated that he should write his comment on a Post-it and place in the <br /> parking lot. <br /> Dr. Stuebe stated that she liked that the meeting takes place in the evening, as it is <br /> easier to participate. <br /> S:\Managers Working Files\B0H\Agenda&Abstracts\2023 Agenda&Abstracts/Board Retreat <br /> Page 5 <br />
