MINUTES <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF HEALTH RETREAT <br /> March 11, 2023 <br /> Ms. Stewart briefly spoke about some of the BOH Responsibilities, which were divided into <br /> three primary categories: 1) Administration, 2) Advocacy, and 3) Policy Development/Rule <br /> Making. <br /> Administrative Tasks include: <br /> - Regularly attending BOH meetings <br /> - Reviewing all meeting materials in advance of meetings <br /> - Attend health department-sponsored community activities or events as requested <br /> - Approving the budget <br /> - Evaluating the performance of the health director on an annual basis <br /> Advocacy Tasks include: <br /> - Serving as a Board liaison to designated organizations of importance to the Board as <br /> requested <br /> - Speaking for the Board only when delegated to do so by the Board <br /> - Standing behind decisions of the Board and the health director <br /> - Be a voice for local public health and our voice for the General Assembly <br /> Policy Development/Rule Making <br /> - Examining all new policies for community-wide implications and discuss issues and <br /> concerns openly in board meeting <br /> - Educating yourself on your community, its public health status, and its needs <br /> - Environmental Health Division plays a large part in rule making.
