2 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE <br /> SUCCESS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF <br /> ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL ROBOTICS TEAMS <br /> WHEREAS, On April 2, Team 587, The Hedgehogs, comprised of students from Orange and <br /> Cedar Ridge High Schools, won the First Robotics Competition North Carolina <br /> District State Championship, and the team was subsequently invited to compete in <br /> the international First Robotics Championship; and <br /> WHEREAS, On April 2, Team 4795,Eastbots,comprised of students from East Chapel Hill High <br /> School, achieved the top ranking in the North Carolina district and were likewise <br /> invited to compete in the international First Robotics Championship; and <br /> WHEREAS, On April 19-22, both Team 4795, Eastbots, and Team 587, The Hedgehogs, <br /> performed exceptionally well at the international First Robotics Championship, <br /> reaching the playoffs in their respective divisions; and <br /> WHEREAS, On March 12, Team 4829, Titanium Tigers, comprised of students from Chapel Hill <br /> High School, won the Johnston County District event, and later competed at the <br /> North Carolina District State Championship; and <br /> WHEREAS, On March 26, Team 7763, Carrborobotics, comprised of students from Carrboro <br /> High School, won the UNC Pembroke District Event, and later competed at the <br /> North Carolina District State Championship; and <br /> WHEREAS, With the support of the Board of Orange County Commissioners, Orange County <br /> Schools, and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, all four Orange County First <br /> Robotics Teams have increased their collaboration with teams in the county and <br /> across North Carolina; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Board of Orange County Commissioners <br /> expresses its sincere gratitude and admiration to the students and mentors of Team <br /> 587, The Hedgehogs,Team 4795,Eastbots,Team 4829,Titanium Tigers, and Team <br /> 7763, Carrborobotics for their broad range of talents, impact on their schools and <br /> community, and dedication to inspiring students of all ages to pursue opportunities <br /> in STEM through robotics. <br /> This the 16th day of May, 2023. <br /> Jamezetta Bedford, Chair <br /> Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />
