Attachment 1 <br /> 1 <br /> 1 DRAFT MINUTES <br /> 2 ORANGE COUNTY <br /> 3 BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> 4 BUSINESS MEETING <br /> 5 April 4, 2023 <br /> 6 7:00 p.m. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 The Orange County Board of Commissioners met for a Business Meeting on Tuesday, April 4, <br /> 9 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Whitted Human Services Center in Hillsborough, NC. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chair Jamezetta Bedford, Vice Chair Earl McKee, <br /> 12 and Commissioners Amy Fowler, Sally Greene, Jean Hamilton, Phyllis Portie-Ascott, and Anna <br /> 13 Richards <br /> 14 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None. <br /> 15 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 16 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: County Manager Bonnie Hammersley, Deputy County Manager <br /> 17 Travis Myren, and Clerk to the Board Laura Jensen. (All other staff members will be identified <br /> 18 appropriately below) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Chair Bedford called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All commissioners were present. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> 23 <br /> 24 There were no changes to the agenda. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Chair Bedford read the public charge: <br /> 27 <br /> 28 The Board of Commissioners pledges its respect to all present. The Board asks those <br /> 29 attending this meeting to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner toward <br /> 30 each other, county staff and the commissioners. At any time should a member of the <br /> 31 Board or the public fail to observe this charge, the Chair will take steps to restore order <br /> 32 and decorum. Should it become impossible to restore order and continue the meeting, <br /> 33 the Chair will recess the meeting until such time that a genuine commitment to this <br /> 34 public charge is observed. The BOCC asks that all electronic devices such as cell <br /> 35 phones, pagers, and computers should please be turned off or set to silent/vibrate. <br /> 36 Please be kind to everyone. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 2. Public Comments (Limited to One Hour) <br /> 39 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 40 <br /> 41 There was no one signed up to speak. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 b. Matters on the Printed Agenda <br /> 44 (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda below.) <br /> 45 <br /> 46 3. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 47 Commissioner Greene petitioned the County Manager to schedule a meeting with the City <br /> 48 Council of Mebane before the end of June if possible to discuss their common interests in the <br /> 49 western part of Orange County. <br /> 50 Commissioner Richards attended the Orange County Partnership for Young Children <br /> 51 advisory board. She said a subgroup will be meeting the next day to delve into the issue of <br />
