Criterion 7 - Time to Complete
Submission Guidance
Applica-ons are to be submised as email asachments to Orange County Sustainability Programs Manager, Amy
Eckberg at aeckberg@orangecountync.gov. Please also CC the lead staff member suppor-ng the Commission of
the Environment, Wesley Poole at wpoole@orangecountync.gov.
35.Please describe how you will
engage with and/or educate
project par-cipants.
We will con-nue to u-lize the ERFM newsleser, social media, local
papers, and the local radio sta-on to engage with the community,
encourage compos-ng and provide educa-on about compos-ng.
In addi-on, we will con-nue to engage and educate ERFM
asendees during market hours. This has proven to be an effec-ve
way of gebng market customers interested in compos-ng and
star-ng to use our Compost Collec-on Site. Since star-ng with the
paid compost monitors, our community par-cipa-on level has
doubled.
36.How will you measure the
success of that engagement or
educa-onal effort?
We will con-nue to track the number of par-cipants each week
and will receive monthly reports from Brooks Contractors with the
total tonnage collected each month.
37.Please describe any other
aspect of your project that is
relevant to the amount, or
quality, or length of engagement
and/or educa-on that your
project will produce.
We have already increased awareness of compos-ng in the
community and the ways in which households can start or
increase their compos-ng efforts. Since the Community Compost
Collec-on site is located at the ERFM, many of the customers to
the market (1,000/week during the summer months), walk by our
site, ask ques-ons and give us the opportunity to educate them
about compos-ng. Many children have expressed interest and
encouraged their parents to par-cipate. It’s hard to say no to a
child who is interested in doing something posi-ve for the
environment!
38.How much -me will your
project require to demonstrate
the posi-ve impacts you
describe?
The con-nued funding for paid monitors ensure the future of and
enhance an already successful project by providing consistent
monitoring and oversight so that the efficiency of the project and
the environmental impact can be maximized. In addi-on, paid
monitors, working with The ERFM Manager, will develop a
marke-ng strategy to further raise awareness of the Community
Compost Collec-on Site.
Page of 19 22
DocuSign Envelope ID: 9FB641C3-C7F6-4609-BE4A-71829032AD83
