Criterion 1 - Social Jus/ce and Racial Equity <br />14.Who will directly or indirectly <br />benefit from your project? <br />Please be as specific as <br />possible on the characteris-cs <br />of those who will benefit <br />including, gender, race, age, <br />income level and geographic <br />loca-on. <br />Also, what are the <br />demographics of the area <br />where your project takes <br />place? <br />Does your project help to <br />address any racial dispari-es in <br />the loca-on it is proposed for? <br />Please list any data sources <br />used and show the steps of <br />any calcula-ons: <br />With the addi-on of the Community Compost Collec-on site, Northern <br />Orange County residents now have somewhere closer to home to bring <br />compostables. <br />Hillsborough has higher concentra-ons of residents that iden-fy as <br />minori-es, so the ERFM draws from a more racially diverse popula-on than <br />other parts of Orange County. The ERFM Community Compost Collec-on <br />site provides a way for community members of every demographic to learn <br />about compos-ng and reduce waste. Compost monitors will educate ERFM <br />customers/visitors about the posi-ve environmental impact of compos-ng <br />and assist those who need help gebng started with compos-ng by <br />providing informa-on about how to get started with home collec-on of <br />compostables, including what can be composted and the environmental <br />impact of diver-ng food waste from the landfill and crea-ng compost. <br />In addi-on, northern Orange County has a higher percentage of low- <br />income residents than the rest of Orange County. Those who have limited <br />-me and resources to travel to a waste and recycling center are able to <br />u-lize our program while at the Market, saving gas and -me. <br />Hillsborough Demographics (where the decrease in car emissions will <br />occur).
