The grants are based on the county <br /> populations and a share of the program rust Counties with over 200,000 population are <br /> eligible for a 100%matching cost based on contain emergency management functions. <br /> Counties with less then 200,000 population are eligible for a 50% match. The grants are <br /> awarded each year and may vary depending on the federal funding available_ <br /> Staff pursued applying for Me grant as pad of the budget process lest year and was awarded a <br /> grant in the amount of$ 19,289. The grant had been fair$20,334 the previous year The grant <br /> applied for this year will be approximately at me same level, with the final amount to be <br /> determined after the State receives all the applications. <br /> FIANCIAL IMPACT: The grant produces funds that offset a part of the cost for new Emergency <br /> Management Specialist position approved by the BOCC earlier in FY 2001-02. That position, <br /> which has an important role In the regional anti-terrorism planning, will be partially funded <br /> through this grant in FY 2002-03. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve submission of <br /> the grant request and authorize the Chair to sign the grant application. <br />
