I continue to serve as one of the 16 <br /> active co-artistic directors of Fort Point Theatre Channel, which I cofounded in 2007, <br /> participating in monthly meeting via Zoom in its mission dedicated to creating and <br /> sustaining new configurations of the performing arts. <br /> Past Service on Orange County Advisory Boards: <br /> Orange County Climate Council (2021-2022) <br /> Boards/Commissions applied for: <br /> Arts Commission <br /> Please explain how your background, education and experience is relevant to this board <br /> For 15 years, I lived in the Fort Point neighborhood of Boston, home to over 300 artists who <br /> produce work in a wide array of media. It is one of New England's largest artists' communities. <br /> During this period, I was active in the Fort Point Arts Community, Inc., where I was a board <br /> member for four years (including three as clerk) and chaired the Gallery Committee for six years; <br /> in 2020, my last year before returning to North Carolina, the gallery was selected by Boston <br /> Magazine Best in Boston. In 2007, 1 co-founded Fort Point Theatre Channel, an arts collective <br /> centered on performance. I continue to serve as one of the 16 active co-artistic directors, <br /> participating in monthly meetings via Zoom in its mission dedicated to creating and sustaining <br /> new configurations of the performing arts. Earlier, with the Jamaica Plain Arts Council between <br /> 1993 and 1999, 1 was board member, secretary, treasurer, and Strategic Planning Committee co- <br /> chair for the successful restructuring of this Boston neighborhood arts organization. And in my <br /> earlier life in North Carolina, I was a member for six years of the Actors' Coop of North Carolina, <br /> based in Carrboro at the ArtsCenter, (then known as the ArtSchool). Other relevant nonprofit <br /> employment over the years has included editorial director at Jobs for the Future, 1997-2013; <br /> director of communications and publications at Cultural Survival, 1991-1993; senior editor of <br /> MIT Technology Review magazine, 1986-1991; a staff member of the Institute for Southern <br /> Studies and an editor of its award-winning magazine of politics and culture, Southern Exposure, <br />
