I am <br /> now a member of the Nursing Home Board and Chair of the Orange County Community <br /> Advisory Committee. I am a trained med assistant, trained nursing assistant, and trained activity <br /> director. Early on I volunteered at a nursing home in my hometown as a Candy Striper. Finally, I <br /> worked four years ago at The Stratford Assisted Living facility in Chapel Hill. <br /> Please explain your reasons for wanting to serve on this board <br /> I would like to be a part of the Adult Care Community Advisory Committee because I really want <br /> to help them during this critical period of committee member shortage. This advisory committee <br /> has a much lower participation rate than do the other committees in Orange County and have <br /> been operating short-handedly for a time. As a retiree I have the time and the passion in this <br /> area. <br /> How would your particpation on this board contribute to the diversity of viewpoints? <br /> I have much experience in the administration of nursing homes as well as adult care homes. I <br /> have an understanding of the community and the available resources. Additionally, I have <br /> worked in facilities where I had real experience in working with residents. I know I could be a <br /> much needed pair of hands. <br />
