She <br /> 39 reviewed the agenda for the meeting, and members of the Board of County Commissioners, <br /> 40 Orange County Board of Education, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Board of Education, and staff introduced <br /> 41 themselves. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Presentation by Orange County Schools on Topics of Interest <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Will Atherton, Chair of Orange County Schools Board of Education, said the first core <br /> 46 value of OCS strategic plan is to value diversity, meaning they are welcoming, respectful, and <br /> 47 appreciate and value what each student brings. He said the schools are the center of culturally <br /> 48 diverse learning where all students are educated to their fullest potential. He said academic rigor <br /> 49 is important to ensure each student is given what they need, as this can vary greatly by student. <br /> 50 Chair Atherton referenced the below handout: <br />
