z <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> CHILD FATALITY PREVENTION TEAM/ <br /> COMMUNITY CHILD PROTECTION TEAM <br /> ANNUAL REPORT <br /> Fiscal Year 2002 <br /> Introduction <br /> Germal Slwuw bB-1406 of the Ncrth Cmoline Juvesdle Code established Child <br /> Fatality Prevention Teams in every worry mthe start, The Child Fatality <br /> Prevention Team's(CPPT)charge Is to review the records of all child fatalities <br /> in the county. Community Chad Protection Team(CCPT)were established is <br /> response to Executive Order 142 in May of 1991. The duties and responsibilities <br /> of the CCPT were adoptel as North Carolina Administrative Code 411 .0400. <br /> The original purpose and composition of the team was feather formalized and <br /> expanded by G.S. 913 1406 offactive July I, 1993. The CCPT's mandate is,in <br /> pelt,to review selected active cases in which children are being served by child <br /> protection services. Both teams are required by statute m submit mnaedy to the <br /> Board of County Cwwwdaiorms recommendations,if any,and advocate for <br /> system improvenms and needed resources ounce apps and deficiencies may <br /> exact. <br /> The statutes Nrther list the required team momhem,which include Soci:d <br /> Services,F3ealus Department, (function tal Liaem,Medical Examiner's office, <br /> Law Endowment,Emml;mcy Medical services, School persomel,and so <br /> Amway fiom the District Attorneys office. <br /> Since the pastiness aed goals oflwth teams are so closely linked and the <br /> composition office teams is nearly identical, the rescue agreed in 1998 to pool <br /> their rauumes and create one team that fulfills the functions ofboth. no <br /> combined CCPT/CFPT meets every ether month and conducts both types of <br /> ravicays. This seduces fragmentation and the time of team members is utilized <br /> more emcisarly, <br /> Reports from each of the teems are anacued for review. <br />
