15
POSITION EXPIRATION VACANCY INFORMATION
DESIGNATION DATE
Town of Carrboro 06/30/2025 Vacant since 04/27/2022
1
2 Tara May, Deputy Clerk to the Board, introduced the item.
3 Commissioner Richards said she supported the HRC taking time to review applicants for
4 the Town of Carrboro position. She said that her concern is that they will have a full board and
5 the oldest member appointed in 2022. She asked if the senior members have to roll off.
6 Tara May said they could be recommended for a one-year extension.
7 Commissioner Richards expressed concern about the turnover on the commission.
8 Tara May said there has been a lot of turnover.
9 Chair Bedford said she believed Dr. Fairbanks had a handle on the needs of the
10 commission.
1 1 The Board agreed by consensus on the recommended applicants.
12
13 8. Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee —Appointment Discussion
14 The Board discussed an appointment to the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee.
15
16 BACKGROUND: The Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee helps to maintain the
17 intent of the Residents' Bill of Rights, promotes community involvement, and provides public
18 education on long-term care issues. The regional ombudsman with Triangle J Council of
19 Governments provides specialized training and support.
20
21 The Board of County Commissioners appoints all ten (10) members.
22
23 REMINDER: As of July 1, 2017, House Bill 248 was adopted by the North Carolina General
24 Assembly regarding the training period for pending members of the "Adult Care Home Community
25 Advisory Committee and Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee". Applicants will be
26 selected from the county "Applicant Interest List" for a condensed training and if the applicant
27 successfully completes the training, the individual would be recommended for appointment.
28 Therefore, when an applicant is recommended for appointment, it would initially be for a one year
29 preliminary term and the training will have already been completed.
30
31 The following individual is recommended for Board consideration:
32
NAME POSITION TYPE OF EXPIRATION
DESCRIPTION APPOINTMENT DATE
TERM
Shade Little At-Large First Full Term 03/31/2026
33
34 SPECIAL NOTATION: None of the other applicants have completed the mandatory pre-
35 appointment training, and are therefore not eligible for appointment at this time.
36
37
