ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> SENIOR CENTER WEEK <br /> WHEREAS, Local communities support over 12,000 Senior Centers <br /> m the united States,and, <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County has recognized one importance of Senor <br /> Cant«s and hie provided leadership in the development <br /> and operations of such facilities in the County,and, <br /> WHEREAS, Senior Carom a56m the deputy,self-woM and <br /> independence of older persons by facilitating their <br /> decisions and knowledge,and enabling their continued <br /> contribution to the commuwty,and, <br /> WHEREAS, Encouraged and supported by the Older American Act, <br /> Sector Centers function as service dehvery focal points, <br /> help older parson to help themselves and each ethic, <br /> and offer opportunities to become physically active, <br /> mentally challenged,continually supported and socially <br /> involved,and, <br /> WHEREAS, the month of May has historically been proclaimed <br /> Older Ammcans Month,and communities across the <br /> country are giving special recognition to older perso <br /> a ns <br /> and the role of sector Ccrtus in scrviug deem.. <br /> NOW,]HEREFORE, We,the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby <br /> PROCLAIM the week of May 12 through May 18,2002 as <br /> SENIOR CENTER WEEK <br /> AND, liuther,da call upon the people of Orange County to honor older Ammcans <br /> and the Senior Centers That bring together activities and sntvede to their beveftt. <br /> Barry Jacobs, Chad <br /> (range County Board of Commissioners <br />
