45 <br /> 1 Commissioner Richards said it is a huge piece of land and was wondering why it didn't <br /> 2 come up in a different context. <br /> 3 Jay Smith said it only came up in regard to expansion. He said they didn't look to <br /> 4 accommodate other growth needs but it could be included. <br /> 5 Commissioner Richards said she heard conversation about land acquisition. <br /> 6 Steve Arndt said there is also a veteran's memorial on the property. He said that the <br /> 7 potential for growth it made the most sense to build an addition to the existing building. <br /> 8 Vice-Chair McKee asked if they have seen schematics on possible growth for the <br /> 9 Southern Human Services Center. <br /> 10 Bonnie Hammersley said yes. She said there was a dental clinic that was going to be put <br /> 11 in, but a mobile unit was bought instead. <br /> 12 Vice-Chair McKee said there has been discussion of expansion of the Seymour Center as <br /> 13 well. <br /> 14 Commissioner Richards said it seemed like a prime option given its proximity to <br /> 15 transportation. <br /> 16 Chair Bedford said it they had wanted the old growth forest to remain protected but that is <br /> 17 a site for potential affordable senior housing as well. <br /> 18 Commissioner Hamilton thanked Jay Smith for the presentation. She said the Board <br /> 19 makes decisions not only for county facilities, but also for public schools. She said when she <br /> 20 looks at decision-making, she considers all of the capital needs in the county. She said for <br /> 21 strategic planning it is great to have this document.
