Outside Agencies/Human Services

Attachments
PROGRAM INFORMATION
*Please submit for each program if applying for funding for more than one program.

6. Program Name: Keeping Your House a Home

Program Primary Contact and Title: Christine Abernathy, Director of Housing Justice

Telephone Number: 919-960-1670 E-Mail: christine@jacksoncenter.info

7. Please briefly describe the proposed program, including an explanation of how it aligns with the
Town of Chapel Hill and Carrboro’s Results Framework, and Orange County BOCC Goals and
Priorities, and the target population to benefit from the program. (250 words or less)

Our program helps to safely retain low-income elders in their homes through a variety of
housing justice tactics. One tactic is home repair support and advocacy that improves the
County’s community network and provides a higher quality of life for elders. We also facilitate
“preservation toolkit” workshops that connect residents with the resources that help preserve
their existing affordable housing. Additionally, we organize a network of attorneys to provide
free estate planning to elders throughout the County, to protect the wellbeing and diversity
of generations to come.

These program activities align with the Towns’ Results Frameworks’ Strategic Objective 2 /
Intermediate Result 2.1: “residents increase their livelihoods’ security” / “residents access
the most appropriate social safety net services, as well as the County’s priorities of “ensuring
a community network of basic human services” and “ensuring a high quality of life and lifelong
learning that champions diversity.”

8. Target Population: Please complete the table below with numbers (not percentages) of
individuals served and projected to be served.

Program Target Population Demographics

Projected
2020-2021
Actual
2020-
2021*
Projected
2021-2022*
Projected
2022-2023
Gender
Men 43 34 33 31
Women 83 79 77 72
Nonbinary/Genderqueer -- -- -- --
Self-Describe -- -- -- --
Total 126 113 110 103
Race and Ethnicity
Black or African-American 112 106 104 97
American Indian or Alaska Native -- -- -- --
DocuSign Envelope ID: 453E455B-EB8F-4C63-A66F-89BF3CD9DE40
